Good morning Garden Children. Before we get out our passports, lets say Happy Birthday to Onyx. He’s four years old today. I hope he lets us know what he did to celebrate turning four years old on this very green and rainy spring day.
Are we ready to get on our airplane and head to another country today? Where should we fly? We’ve been to Africa and Australia. Let’s go someplace that’s at the top of my list. Japan.
Here’s a well loved Japanese children’s song that we might learn at school. Will you do the hand motions?
Here’s another traditional Japanese children’s song about a little elephant that loves his mama very much.
I had to show you this!! These kids are learning about Ninjas in Japan
I’ve seen you play Ninjas on the playground. Ninjas are actually from Japan.
Let’s watch these friends learn about robots in Japan.
Let’s read a story about a Japanese cat named Wabi Sabi. If we were at school we might try to write short poems about our pets.
I think we’ll need to stay in Japan for a few days. Don’t you want to learn about Japanese food and maybe eat some? Do you like sushi? Japanese food is not just sushi though. Parents, are you ready to make a simple Japanese style dinner tomorrow? Maybe chicken or tofu skewers, rice balls, and a green vegetable? Want to be celebratory and get some mochi ice cream. Everyone could wear their bathrobes as kimono.
This is what it might be like to go to a cherry blossom festival in Japan. Doesn’t the food look really good?
Here’s a beautiful and simple art project you can do today. All you need is paint and a soda bottle. You can make a beautiful cherry tree. In Japan they have festivals when the cherry blossoms are blooming. You can paint or cut out the stem and trunk of your cherry tree and then stamp the blossoms.
Put your hands in the air Garden Children. Wherever you are we wish you well.
