Hello, Bluebird Families!
This week was all about snow! We made a huge snowflake in our room with colorful stickers. When you drop your child off in the mornings you should be able to see it on the closet door as you peek inside! There are also pictures on our school’s Instagram! Each child created one section of the snowflake. It was fun to watch them plan out how they wanted their section to look. On Tuesday, we got to play in the snow on the playground! That was so fun! Some of us made a snowman together. Others made a snow baby that got carried all around the playground and taken care of throughout our time outside. And still others enjoyed collecting and scraping the snow and ice. We read The Big Snow by Berta and Elmer Hader. We learned about each animal’s way of surviving the winter. Some migrated to warmer places. Some hibernated. Some stayed and were able to find the food they needed until the big snow. Then the people helped the animals by scattering nuts, seeds, and corn for them to eat until the snow melted and the animals could find their own food again. Then we created our own big snow pictures. These will be coming home soon! On Wednesday, we painted pinecones with silver and gold paint. On Thursday, we made beaded snowflakes. Friday was so beautiful we spent lots of time playing outside! We were very excited to see a tiny sliver of moon in the sky!
We have been reviewing letter sounds and only have a few left to go! Soon we will be learning to put these sounds together to read words! Kindergarten is so exciting!
Thanks for sharing your childen with me!
