Hello, Bluebird Families!
We had quite a short week together, with President’s Day on Monday and snow days on Thursday and Friday! However, we made the most of our time together on Tuesday and Wednesday!
On Tuesday, we had a fun-filled day celebrating Valentine’s Day! We exchanged valentines and painted cardboard hearts for a project that will decorate our room. We had a compliment scavenger hunt. I hid compliments all around our classroom. Then we took turns searching for the compliments. We talked about what a compliment is, what each compliment meant, and how it feels to get and give compliments. We also enjoyed playing with valentine playdough and valentine sensory bins. During our outside time, we played on the big hill out back. We were all about hauling big sticks and branches to make teepees! We are strong, helpful, great problem solvers, and thoughtful team players! Those are just a few of the many compliments we found during our scavenger hunt! It was really cool to see those characteristics play out as we worked together!
On Wednesday, we made the leap from studying letters and sounds to reading words! This took up the majority of the day, as I worked with 2 students at a time to make sure they understood the process. We also painted the other sides of our cardboard hearts, played outside, and had free play inside while we waited for our turns to start reading.
Thanks for sharing your children with me!
