Hello, Bluebird Families!
We had a great week of school before our spring break! We enjoyed dance parties on the rainy days and extra outside play time during the days of nice weather. We continued working on our letter and reading skills and number and math skills. It’s always so exciting to me to see children progress and gain confidence in these areas.
We celebrated the 100th day of school on Tuesday. We counted 100 clementines. We counted to 100 by 1, 5, 10, 20, 25, and 50. We read 100 Ways to Get to 100 by Jerry Pallotta, which showed all those ways and more! We discovered many different ways to make 100 cents and built towers and other structures with 100 unifix cubes. We also made 100 dots with dot markers and dot stickers.
During this week, we read The Penny Pot, which is a fun book where we had to use math to help the main character figure out if she has enough money to get her face painted throughout a day at a fair. I was impressed with how the children used their math skills.
On Friday, we had Show and Tell, which the children had been asking to do for some time. I loved seeing their confidence in explaining the special item they brought and answering questions about it.
Thanks for sharing your children with me!
