Hello, Bluebird Families!
We had another great week together! We celebrated 2 Bluebirds turning 6 years old with birthday songs, birthday books made by the class for each child, and birthday rings that I decorated with each child’s favorite things (dragons for S on Monday and flamingos for D on Friday). It warmed my heart so much to see your children think of their own unique way to show love to their friends on their birthdays. I saw them wear socks with animals the birthday child loves, make special pictures for them, give the birthday child the chance to go first in line or choose the game to play outside. It was so sweet!
We read apple books, including tall tales about Johnny Appleseed. We discussed which details of his story were true and which details were probably exaggerated. We played math bingo and created pictures with pattern blocks. We created necklaces with our bowtie pasta that we painted as butterflies and penne pasta painted as caterpillars. Our monarchs have not emerged yet, but we can see the pattern of their wings through the chrysalis! It will be soon!
We enjoyed lots of rain and mud play on Tuesday and Wedneday, and a little bit on Thursday. (Sorry for all the muddy laundry!) They really had so much fun being free to explore and play outside together regardless of the weather! It’s our own lifesize sensory bin! On Thursday, the children found an earthworm, which they named Earthy. They worked together collecting food for him, cooking a stew for him, carrying him wherever he wanted to go, and arranging babysitters to take care of him when they had to go to a different part of the playground.
Thanks for sharing your children with me!
