Hello, Bluebird Families!
We had another great week in Kindergarten! We enjoyed several fun fall activities. We studied the shapes of leaves and matched leaves. We created pumpkin art that showed the different parts of a pumpkin. We read Why Do Leaves Change Color? and The Pumpkin Book. We played more pumpkin tic tac toe and jumped in leaf piles.
We learned about elections and voting on Tuesday by voting for our favorite color. We color coded our ballots to help ourselves read color words. We each took a turn going to our voting booth (under our Lego table) to vote. We then put our ballots in the ballot box for them to be counted. We created “I voted” badges to wear afterwards. We talked about how some people like to share their voting information with others, while others like to keep it private, and that each person gets to make their own decision about who/what to vote for and whether or not to share it. We also discussed how some people would be very happy with the results while others would not, and that even in grownup elections, this happens. Then the results were announced. Purple won! As predicted, some of us were excited with this news, while others were disappointed. It was a great learning experience and the children came back the next day wanting to vote again!
This week, we also began working on some projects for our upcoming art show. We will be keeping these a surprise, so I really can’t tell you about them yet. They will be revealed in our Virtual Art Show on November 20th!
Thank you for sharing your children with me!
