Hello, Bluebird Families!
We had a great 5 days together! We continued to practice writing our names, using tally marks, telling time to the hour and half hour, and using a calendar. We read some good books like Our Class is a Family and Superhero ABCs. We also read Iggy Peck, Architect and then designed our own buildings. We read Monarch Butterfly by Gail Gibbons and observed 3 caterpillars and a chrysalis. We collected items from nature and glued them on paper to make beautiful pictures of birds, robots, people, trees, etc. We had our first fire drill and our first shelter in place drill, where we kept quiet and used a flashlight in the dark to read The Secrets of the Apple Tree. The kids did so well following directions and staying calm during our drills. They have even requested more! We practiced writing all of the letters of the alphabet, both uppercase and lowercase. On a rainy day, we grated sidewalk chalk and added rainwater to it to make chalk paint. We painted pictures on the concrete floor of the picnic shelter. I honestly think they had the most fun creating the paint and mixing the colors. They have requested to do this again on future rainy days! We also celebrated a Bluebird’s birthday this week! I made a tray with a birthday ring, 5 candles, and lots of dinosaurs and rocks. He blew out his candles and enjoyed looking at his birthday book that we made him. Each child made a page in the book and he created the cover for it.
Looking forward to another great week!
