Hello, Friendly Foxes Families!
What a wonderful week of Apples and Autumn we have had. We have had so much fun learning about what happens in Autumn and all about apples and how they grow. The children seem more and more comfortable at school every day and we are all learning new ways to share our space and practice kindness. We hear the children complimenting one another on each other’s art, checking on friends when they are sad, and finding new ways to play together. It is wonderful to see them using these skills!
We have indeed enjoyed our Apple week. We read some wonderful books, including some all about how apple trees grow. Today we made our own beautiful apple life cycle wheels, noticing how it goes around and around and never stops. We looked closely at real apples together, cut them open and looked at their parts, peeled, and chopped them. We made applesauce, and even had a tasting of various types so that we could make our own class book. We painted with real apples, floated them in our giant water bin, “cooked” with them in real oatmeal sensory bins, and played lots of different apple counting and sorting games. We enjoyed an A is for Apple game, and had one whole day of “Ten Apples up on Top” activities! We added our new apple song to our special journals, enjoyed some cozy reading time in our nest exploring apple and autumn books together, made beautiful apples for our rainbow tree, and so much more. The children are truly enjoying all the sign language I am teaching them to go along with our songs, and it is a beautiful thing to behold.
Next week is Pumpkin week! We have loads of fun activities planned for the week ahead. Friday will be our Fall Festival during the morning portion of the school day. All students are welcome on this day. Please look for an email from the school with further details about this day. It is truly a delightful celebration for the children.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us!
