Hello, Friendly Fox Families!
What a wonderful week we have had, from enjoying the beautiful weather, to exploring famous art and artists’ techniques. We have been so happily busy playing and learning together! I love this time of year so much, as the class is really feeling like a family, and we are telling them so! We are a kind and gentle Friendly Fox Family and we love school!
We began our week by exploring Jackson Pollock’s art and unique technique of painting without touching his canvases, and then we had a blast trying this two different ways! Another day we enjoyed a nice long nature collection walk to the giant osage orange tree at the corner of our meadow. We explored the unique bumpy texture, fruity smell, large size and heavy weight of these curious “fruits,” (they are inedible, but smell so good). We then enjoyed making nature crowns with our treasures. One day we read “Not a Box” and then made our own class book about our not-a-boxes and explored other ways to make boxes together. The next day we learned all about Andy Warhol and Pop Art, and then had so much fun making our own Pop Art and playing ice cream games. Today we enjoyed sharing our own favorite storybooks from home with our friends, made some of our own little books, and enjoyed celebrating another Friendly Fox birthday!
Next week we will continue learning and exploring all kinds of artists and their unique techniques, and talking about thankfulness. Please remember that school closes at 12:00 on Friday November for all students for Thanksgiving Break.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us!
