Hello, Friendly Fox Families!
We have had another wonderful week together, and are really getting excited about our upcoming Art Show! We are still enjoying learning all about various perspectives on how to see art and how various artists use different techniques and materials to express themselves. The children are still truly enjoying this unit, as it really gives them ideas of ways to explore their feelings and to express them through their own art. We are hearing lots of stories about how many Foxes are wanting to do more art at home, and this is music to my ears!
We hope by now you’ve seen the invitation your child made with information on dates and times you can come to our gallery exhibit. We enjoyed making these for you. This week we especially enjoyed taking a couple of days making a beautiful collaborative sculpture that will be on display next week. The children were so kind to each other as we were building it, sharing the space and materials, and giving one another lots of compliments. Yesterday we learned all about Frida Kahlo and how much she loved animals and nature, how many different types of pets she had and the playground her husband built for them, and how much she loved painting pictures of her animals and nature, and we then painted some beautiful bouquets and floral crowns for sharing and wearing. Today we learned about how glass is made and how Dale Chihuly makes beautiful sculptures out of glass he makes himself, and how he travels the world with his incredible glass exhibits. We especially love the exhibits he builds outside in gardens! We then enjoyed making step one what will be a beautiful Chihuly exhibit in our room. We had so much fun with all of these activities and so many other games, pretend play, art explorations and even a sweet tea party.
We look forward to some more surprise activities next week and sharing all of our incredible artwork and knowledge with you! Your children are incredible artists!
See you next week!
