I hope all of our Honeybee families had some wonderful family time together during this long weekend. The sunny days were so beautiful, and the start to the school week looks sunny and fine as well. We’ll finish our bee books at the beginning of the week and dive into dinosaurs. I do want to do some flower art and an interesting flowers and seed “dissection”, but maybe it is the cretaceous period.
The Honeybee’s really enjoyed the Magic School Bus book Inside the Hive. It really captured their imaginations. The last thing we want to do in our Honeybee unit is play out Honeybee communication with waggle dancing. We’ll try that tomorrow.
The Bees also loved the classic story of Elmer the Elephant. You can find our Elephant parade posted on the school Instagram. We definitely believe that we can be different and beautiful.
We’ll learn about the time of the dinosaurs and learn about herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. We’ll build some models of each and send our classroom back in time. We’ll learn about land, sea, and flying dinosaurs. There are so many good songs about dinosaurs and paleontologists. Here’s a quick sneak peek.
We’ll learn all about fossils, play in a giant fossil sensory bin, and find our own fossils during our table top dig with some very cool substrate from coastal North Carolina.
This week I’ll have a date for you for our morning at Glade Road Growing for a tour with Sally or JP Walker.
Soon we’ll tuck our eggs into the incubators. Get ready for a very exciting spring. A Friendly Fox family is in the middle of lambing, and they will bring us some bottle fed lambs to hold and feed.
See you in the Honeybee Room
