Hello Honeybee Families,
We had a wonderful week together in the Honeybee class last week. All of our new kids are starting to feel comfortable and safe, and I feel like we are starting to feel like a school family. Cooking together was a great experience… talking, counting, measuring, and taking turns. Our Tuesday/ Thursday morning friends didn’t get to eat our creation, so I’ll bake a loaf of pumpkin bread to share again on Tuesday. I’m thinking about doing a Stone Soup cooking project in early November.
We enjoyed hammering golf tees into our pumpkin and taking out the seeds. We still need to plant some of our seeds and see what happens. (They are in the fridge) This week we’ll paint our big pumpkin and start some apple projects. We’ll make apple art, learn about the life cycle of the apple tree, and do a counting project based on the book Ten Apples Up on Top.
I want to remind you again that our lease agreement with Tried Stone requires that we don’t celebrate Halloween. It’s fine to wear fun fall outfits but please no Halloween costumes at school.
Thanks for sending all the warm clothes for cooler days. I think we are going to have a beautiful sunny week this week. I talked to a friend who teaches at a Forest School, and she sent me a clothing chart they share with their families. She recommends Kombi mittens, and extra fleece pants and a long sleeve fleece in the winter.
We waved… and shouted.. and ran as we released our last butterfly of the season. I feel like we had Meow B for longer than we’ve ever had a caterpillar/butterfly.
Our first show and share was wonderful. We’ll try to do it once a month. In November I think we’ll bring in our favorite book and try to share all of them during a morning. The Honeybees were so brave and talkative when they sat in the share chair. I love that every child was willing to “lead” during circle time. Thank you for helping them bring in their nature finds.
See you in the morning! We are having baby pig visitors!
