Hello Honeybee Families,
It felt like a teeny tiny week with the Monday off and a few families on trips this week, but small days give the children opportunities to really play with new friends. The Honeybees had their first birthday this week, and everyone is excited that this will soon happen to them.
Birthdays are always special, and we celebrate with a Waldorf inspired “Birthday Fire” decorated just for them. We also have a tradition in which the birthday child holds a tiny earth and walks around a “sun” while we sing “Circle of the Sun” for them.
We have shifted from Butterflies deeper into the world of Autumn. I made big corn sensory bins with pumpkins, squash, colored leaves, and acorns. This week we’ll continue talking about the things that FALL during this time of year…. and why they are falling. If you have any especially beautiful fall leaves please send them in. I’d love to do an outdoor fall leaf/acorn/walnut mandala outdoors towards the end of the week.
We are going to go on an acorn hunt this week, talk about hibernation, and how animals are getting ready for the winter.
Our Fall Festival is in two weeks, and we’ll send more information this week. It’s just a simple fall celebration… just for the kids. They’ll get to go to the other classrooms for special sensory play, a scavenger hunt, and even pumpkin bowling. The children will hunt for their own special pumpkin outside, and we’ll share some simple treats…clementine pumpkins, popcorn, and apple cider.
I hope everyone is well. Catherine and I are loving your children.
