During the week we enjoyed lots of ideas about Pumpkins!!! But do you know what we love even more than Pumpkins? Elephant, Piggie, and the Pigeon. We just can’t stop. We really don’t want to read other things. We made it through by reading so many Elephant and Piggie books… Pigeon Takes a Bath… and Pigeon Gets a Puppy. Just the phrase ‘Hot Dog Party” brings them to their knees.
We did spend lots of time outside in the incredible weather. We made books about Pumpkin Life Cycles, and we went for a walk collecting fall leaves and looking for acorns.
Many of us are getting really excited about our letters… The letters in our NAME… and we are making progress towards writing our names. Letters will be available in more activities as we move forward. If your child isn’t interested yet don’t worry a bit. We’ll make it a choice with playdough stampers, puzzles, and even our bean bag toss.
We did open our pie pumpkin and pulled out all the seeds. We then filled our pumpkin with dirt and each of us planted two pumpkin seeds. Pretty soon we’ll see the next step of the pumpkin life cycle. We really should plant some in April in our little Honeybee garden.
On Friday we’ll celebrate Fall during our Fall Festival. I’m hoping the weather gives us time to make some fall leaf mandalas and hike our way to the Osage orange tree. I wonder if the big winds tonight blew some down? Tomorrow we are going to do a sweet counting project that you may have seen the other classes do. We are going to read Ten Apples Up on Top and balance ten apple stickers on top of some photos of each of us.
Next week we’ll start learning about the History of Art, primary colors… and the best part is that we are the stars of the art show. It’s one of our favorite times of the year here at the Children’s Garden. Because Thanksgiving is early this year we are pushing back the art show to December to give ourselves even more creative time.
There’s got to be some pigeon art right?
