If we were at school today we would be taking down all the numbers on the calendar and saying goodbye to March and hello to April. If you were thinking of having a calendar time at home, today would be a good day to start.
Today I’m putting up my new bluebird box and filling my birdfeeders. Have you been watching any birds? International Migratory Bird Day is coming up on May 9. This year’s theme is “Birds Connect Our World.” I wanted to show you a video about listening to birds and identifying them by their song. You could get out some paper and markers or watercolors and try to make pictures of the bird’s song. I think it is interesting to “see” the sound.
Here are fifteen bird songs to learn or just try to draw or paint their sounds.
Want to make some handprint birds? You could get some real twigs outside and glue to some construction paper for your bird to sit on… or make a nest out of twigs and torn brown paper. You could choose your colors and learn about that kind of bird.
Is there some time every day for some Family Dancing? This song calls for some shakers and percussion instruments… also a hula hoop or just your hula hoop moves!
I really miss reading out loud to the Honeybees.
Honeybees, get your mama and papa to show me what you’ve been up to.
Mamas and Papas and Grandparents… Lauren and I miss you very much.
