Did you see any snow or ice on the ground when you woke up this morning? We live in a special place, don’t we? Spring comes and flowers bloom, and then winter comes back and we start all over again. Do you know the name of the place that you live? Blacksburg? Yes. You live in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You live in Appalachia.
Would you like to see thirteen musicians play a piece about the Appalachian spring? This music was written for a ballet, a story about a pioneer farmhouse wedding. What kind of stories can you tell when you are dancing? Get your parents to show me or draw me a picture.
What instruments do you see? Did you feel like dancing or did you feel like drawing or painting?
Do you have a puppet theater at your house? Have you thought about making one?
Here’s a theater made out of a large cardboard box and one made out of a cereal box. I really like the little photo-puppet.
There are so many ways for preschoolers to make puppets or just play out stories with stuffed animals and figures.
Do you know the story of the Gruffalo? You could make a shadow puppet theatre and act out this story. (This is really making me wish we were in our Honeybee classroom and could set this up with a big fabric sheet and the projector.)

Here’s the story if you have not read it.
…..And stories are even better when we can sing them.
Put your hands in the air and say it with me Honeybees. Wherever you are we wish you well.
I’ll be here tomorrow.
