Happy Rainy Monday my friends. Would you like to start some bread dough today? Did you know that Honeybees could make delicious bread? I thought it would be a wonderful and empowering sensory experience for just about anyone. I started a sourdough starter five days ago, and I’m going to bake this afternoon. I’m going to share with you a recipe I use all the time, the basic recipe from Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. Though you could bake it today, it gets better if you make two batches and leave one in the fridge for up to fourteen days. By day fourteen it has a delicious tangy sourdough flavor.
This does call the yeast “little monsters.” Would your Honeybee worry that yeast is alive? I like that it burps out CO2 to make the bread fluffy. That dough recipe is easy to make and can be used to make many different kinds of breads. I’ve even used it to make cinnamon rolls.
If you want something simpler… or you need delicious bread in less than an hour you could try this. It’s local and at Kroger.

I love sharing all kinds of music with young children, and during these days at home it is even more needed. All of the artists who are doing Live from Home shows are just beautiful. I can share with you some of the music that I love to play in the classroom. Here’s a Honeybee favorite for a dance party if you need to get moving on this rainy day.
If you need an activity for today, what about a car/baby/dinosaur wash? Get a tub of water, put a towel under it at the kitchen table, and grab an old toothbrush. Add some bubbles, a drop of food coloring, a drop of essential oil. Adding some measuring cups and maybe an eyedropper.
I’m going to leave you with one more song today. And some ideas. I’ve been posting inspiration for art and play over on our Instagram stories. I thought that starting tomorrow I’d talk about making a birdwatching journal while we are here at home. Do you have a birdfeeder at home that your Honeybee can see from the window? The hummingbirds should be here in the next week.
Talk to you all tomorrow.
