Good Morning Honeybees! It’s French Fry Friday. Mrs. Lauren sent us a picture from her house this morning.
How are you this morning? Parents, I’m going to start posting these by 9 am just in case you are a super-scheduler and want to have a school time each weekday. I think a lot of Honeybees like to play school if you wanted to set up a “school” center at home. It could be completely flexible and not take over a whole room in your house. The kids could even use an old calendar and color in the day each morning. I’m just thinking of ways to connect with the number of the day. We had also started doing group writing during circle time with our sparkly magic finger. We would polish up the tip of our writing finger and write the number in the air, reaching up high and noticing where the number ( or letter) starts and how is MOVES as we write it. I show them the shape as we are writing it. Go big.
At circle time we go around and notice who is NOT with us. We raise our arms up high and say, “Wherever you are we wish you well.” Maybe this would be a good morning activity at your house while we can’t see friends and extended family.
I’m going to go over to school today and start packing up our cubbies in Kroger shopping bags. I told one family that I would be there at two today. If you want to come this afternoon email me and let me know and I’ll put your things on the back porch. I’ll do this another day next week with more notice. I’ll also put the rain boot shelves on the porch for you to come and collect those.
Did you get to see Elephants at the watering hole in Africa yesterday. When I clicked on it I realized it was no longer live. I’ve updated it to show some live feeds because I really loved seeing the animals at night.
Honeybees, have you been on any good walks with your family lately. I thought I’d share a song from another band that I love, The Okee Dokee Brothers. They made this video on the Appalachian Trail, and that is near us! Have you hiked on it before? They are singing about walking in the spring. Maybe you’ll walk in the spring this weekend. Will you tell me what you see.
The Okie Dokie Brothers create music while they are on big adventures. Sometimes they hike and sometimes they go on big canoe trips with their instruments and write songs about the things they see and find along the way.
Here’s a short family documentary about one of their trips with lots of wonderful music. This might be something for the weekend.
Who needs to move today. A familiar story is a good way to start.
Are you making art at home? Next week I’ll share a daily art inspiration. For now, know that just having the supplies available all the time is wonderful start. Encouraging drawing and writing can be as simple as letting your child sharpen the pencils with you.
I’ll leave you with these. Big love,
Sally
