Dear Honeybee Families,
Welcome to our blog. Each teacher will share their week with you sometime over the weekend.
It feels wonderful in the Honeybee Room, and I want to thank you for sharing these little people with us.
We have only been together for four days, but we are learning about our new friends, our classroom, our teachers, and the rhythm of our days. We are trying to show you our activities through pictures, and I think that grows as we settle into our days. For now, we are playing, reading books, dressing up, painting, singing, building, and driving tiny cars. We have had three little circle times, and are learning our first songs here. ( Let’s make a list of your child’s favorite songs on the door this week!) I hope you have heard Bippity Boppity Bumble Bee and our very Special Twinkle Twinkle.
Your children are doing very well with their masks, and I hope that soon we’ll see each other’s whole faces all the time. Here’s to a glorious long fall, and we’ll do so many things outside. I just got our HEPA air purifier set up today!
There are a lot of wonderful things about this year…. having parents in the building and the classroom ….and the return of our beloved Friendly Fox staff. It is wonderful to be able to support each other during the school day and have mixed age play outside.
This week we’ll continue to explore our room. We’ll be learning about each other, making our first self portraits, and making beautiful handprints to affirm that we are safe and we are kind. We’ll start to delve into the art and writing of Eric Carle in The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I’ll head out into the fields on my road and bring us some monarch caterpillars. If you have some, we’d love to take care of them. Honeybees never get tired of watching these caterpillars munch milkweed, and releasing the butterflies while we sing “Garden Children” is just beautiful. We’ll learn about the butterflies life cycle and subsequent migration.
If you have any questions at all just ask…or send me a note on Remind. You are certainly welcome to talk at Drop off and pickup, but it feels busy. We can always make an appointment to talk early before school….and really… I’m always here.
I just have to start the year by saying I have the most wonderful co-teacher, Catherine!!! I hope you can get to know her.
Welcome to week two!
